The Visual Interrupt

A hook needs to disrupt the user's mindless scrolling immediately. Start your video with high-impact motion: a sudden camera pan, a sharp zoom, or the absolute climax of an action sequence. Never start with a slow fade-in, a loading screen, or a static game menu.

Anatomy of a Viral Hook

1s

The Interruption

High-contrast visual motion + heavy bass drop or sound effect to stop the thumb.

2s

The Context

On-screen text appears quickly explaining what the viewer is looking at.

3s

The Payoff Setup

The action transitions, forcing the viewer to stay to see the resolution.

Real Game Examples

The "Fail" Hook

Example: Starting a clip by running through an empty forest for 4 seconds before an enemy finally appears on screen. The viewer already scrolled past by second two.

The "Viral" Hook

Example: Starting the frame at the exact millisecond a Leviathan Axe strikes, synced perfectly to a heavy cinematic bass drop, followed immediately by bold text reading "Most Satisfying Combat."
